The UMP Library and Information Services (LIS) was established in 2014 from a one room library with only one staff member, to a state-of-the-art library that currently has a total staff complement of 14 members based at both the Mbombela and Siyabuswa Cam

Grammarly for Education - Getting Started

Use Grammarly to save time and feel confident that your writing is mistake-free, original, and compelling. Once you’ve created and activated your Grammarly account, visit to access your app.grammarly.com to access your account hub, where you can manage your settings and create new documents:


  • Under My Grammarly, you can run through our Get Started checklist, which offers a quick tour and provides details on the websites and apps you expect to use the most. Specify whether you’ll be using Grammarly for school or work (or something else), and Grammarly will tailor its suggestions to your needs

  • Customize your experience. Under Account, open the Writing tab to select preferences for your personal dictionary, primary language, dialect, and suggestion options. Then open the Your account tab and click Feature customization to choose your preferences for generative AI writing assistance.

  • Try Grammarly in Outlook, and Google Docs. As you write, the green Grammarly button will provide advanced suggestions for clarity, correctness,
 word choice, and citations, as well as assist with outlining and brainstorming.

  • Install Grammarly’s desktop and mobile apps or browser extension to integrate AI writing assistance into all the places you write. To download, go to app.grammarly.com and open the Apps tab. For more assistance, check out this Support article.
