UMP Library

The UMP Library and Information Services (LIS) was established in 2014 from a one room library with only one staff member, to a state-of-the-art library that currently has a total staff complement of 14 members based at both the Mbombela and Siyabuswa Cam

Welcome Message from the Director: LIS

We are delighted by your presence in all our spaces (physical & virtual). We are here to help you as you embark on a personal quest for knowledge. We will help you locate, select, and acquire the information you need from the massive content that is already available to you. We intend to provide you with structured learning support in collaboration with different support and academic divisions on campus.

Our services are simply beyond providing access to resources required for learning and research. But extend to other information needs you may have through your entire journey of being a student at the UMP. When you feel overwhelmed and experience challenges with tasks assigned to you, never shy away from contacting the library for assistance. Given the challenging times we are experiencing with the pandemic, we would like to assure you that our spaces are well maintained, following the COVID-19 regulations. Because of the limited number of sitting spaces, we have established an online team that will be readily available to attend to your needs mostly during operational hours.

The library website is, therefore, a gateway to library online resources and services and as such, we recommend that you take advantage of the “Ask a librarian” service accessible on all library platforms and make use of library WhatsApp platform for instant chat with our professional librarians.

We look forward to fruitful engagements with you.

Ms. Zanele Mathe
Director: Library and Information Services (LIS)
